Naval Air Station Kingsville is part of the Navy Region Southeast and is tasked with operating high performance single engine aircraft over land. Naval Station Kingsville operates as a military airport and is host to the annual Wings Over South Texas Air Show. The naval air station trains Student Naval Aviators for both the United States Navy and the United States Marine Corps. Naval Air Station Kingsville is located just a few miles from Kingsville, Texas. There are no Department of Defense schools located at NAS Kingsville. For those children living on post, parents need to contact the NAS Kingsville’s School Liaison Officer to determine which independent school district their child will attend. The Greater Kingsville Area is composed of four different public independent school districts offering education from Pre-K thru 12th grade. Depending on where the student resides, many of the districts allow open enrollment which enables students to live in one district but attend school in another. For more specific information, contact the School Liaison Officer at 361-675-0112. The Child Development Center at NAS Kingsville is located in Building 4706 and provides many programs for children living in government quarters. Daycare, before and after school care, and in-home care are just some of the programs offered. For more specific information call the center at 361-561-6176.
Housing is provided is coordinated by the NAS Kingsville Housing Referral Office has information on the two Public-Private Ventures housing which include Hawks Landing and Hunter’s Cove. Both neighborhoods offer three and four bedroom units and both allow pets. Military personnel who are looking for either on-post or off-post housing are requested to check in at the Housing Welcome Center located in the Command Building. The buildings offer over 400 housing units with central air and heat. Temporary lodging is available through the Navy Gateway Inn and Suites which offers eight family suites and 33 single rooms to accommodate families of four. Pets are not allowed in temporary housing, so boarding arrangements need to be made prior to arrival at NAS Kingsville. Temporary housing is allowed for up to 30 days for incoming people on a waiting list and 10 days for outbound people.
